The Adventures of Jeff and Sarah

We are busy making content from our travels and plan on wrapping up our YouTube series about the trail in the near future. At some point we plan on completing our blog about the trail as well. You can find the blog here. We are also writers for the Trek.co. If you would like to get notified when new things are posted, sign up at the bottom of the page. We were also in Europe and the USA for the first 6 months of our sabbatical. If you would like to see more about that adventure, check out our Wandering Around blog.

Well, hello there! We are Jeff and Sarah, and we took a year-long travel sabbatical that took us all over the globe. In the middle of the traveling, we decided to walk a long ways and did the South Island portion (NoBo) of Te Araroa Trail in New Zealand.

Fur Family

Nacho

Nacho Zanzibar Calvillo

Nacho is hands down the most expressive dog I have ever known. There isn’t a moment of the day that he won’t hesitate to let you know how he is feeling whether it be happy whines or nervous barks. He loves going on runs, chewing on bones, and scavenging for scraps. He hates horses, garbage trucks, and rule breakers. He is a Doberman-Shepard mix with very strong herding instincts and is a strong believer in keeping everyone together when we go for jogs as a family by slamming on the breaks if he is with the lead person or pulling the caboose along to close the gap. He loves attention but would rather for you to reach for him to be pet rather than him getting too close. He is a people puppy and gets extremely excited when friends come over.

Spaghetti

Louie Spaghetti Classen

Spaghetti boys, his one of many nicknames, is an addition to the family that completed the bunch. Once everyone was acclimated which took a month, it felt like Spaghetti was always part of the family. Spaghetti is a love machine who enjoys cuddles as well as exploring and finding out how high he can perch himself. He can somehow handle Nacho and his desire to constantly wrestle yet with people, it takes him time to warm up to them. Jeff likes to think that Spaghetti prefers death metal music and enjoys cuddling with Jeff during video games, especially the violent ones for some reason. I'm convinced he knows how handsome he is and doesn't have to prove himself for love. The confidence and level of self-worth of cats is equivalent to humans who have done 15+ years of therapy. I truly admire and envy that! In the mornings, Spaghetti will cuddle as long as possible, but as soon as our feet hit the floor, he knows it's game time. We like to think that he is telling us (more like yelling) how to feed him and where the food is. Our favorite Spaghetti moments are his morning and evening snuggles and watching wrestling matches between him and Nacho, he can surprisingly hold his own.
